Black Sage Vineyard 2020 Viognier
LAST of the VINTAGE!
Vibrant and fruity, this wine possesses a rich mouthfeel with highly aromatic, ripe, bold flavours of apricot and stone fruit.
A very cold winter led to a spring that saw record levels of rainfall, resulting in explosive vine growth. This was followed by some of the warmest temperatures ever recorded for the first week of August in the Okanagan. Even with the slow start to the season, the steady summer heat had our vineyard team harvesting a week earlier than average. Their hard work paid off; aromatic whites are crisp and fresh with a lively palate, while our reds are rich and fruit-forward.
Sourced from our Bullpine Vineyard on Black Sage Road in mid October, this vibrant Viognier benefits from long exposure to the Okanagan hot weather. Partially fermented in old barrels with weekly stirring of the lees ensures a rich mouthfeel. A third of this blend was fermented and stored in stainless steel tank and added to the blend to give it back that bold fruitiness.
Food Pairing Notes
Pairs nicely with Peeking Duck, Crab cakes with mango salsa, Pad Thai or Pork chops with a Black Sage Pipe reduction. Great with the following cheeses: Blue, Emmentaler, Colby, edam, Feta and Monterey Jack.

One of the best Viogniers I have tried. The added notes of oak and the subtleness of the fruit enhance a full mouth experience with great viscosity. Truly a white wine that a red wine drinker will treasure. Kudos to the wine makers on this one. Cant wait until the next batch is available.
